Foods that whiten your teeth

A nice white and bright smile can be a sign of good dental hygiene and maintenance. Even though there are several whitening products out there, ranging from toothpastes to gels, there is an easier way to boost your teeth’s whiteness. There are foods that can leave stains on your teeth after you eat them. But there are also foods that can help you brighten and whiten your teeth just by eating them! Here are some of the foods that can help you whiten your teeth.




-Apples. Similar to seeds and nuts, apples’ crunchy texture can rub away plaque and stains while strengthening your gums. The high water content in apples also triggers saliva production that helps neutralize bacteria.


-Broccoli. Raw broccoli can act as a sponge for your teeth. Every single chew is getting rid of stains and plaque buildup on the surface of the teeth. Broccoli also does not stay stuck in teeth.


-Celery and carrots also have a high water content that causes saliva production. The extra saliva can prevent pieces from getting lodged into between your teeth. The crunchiness can also make your gums stronger.



-Dairy. Dairy products, such as cheese, milk and yogurt are packed with calcium, which is a mineral that strengthens both your teeth and gums. These three dairy products are also colorless so it will not stain your teeth. Not all calcium-rich foods lead to a whiter smile. Certain foods, such as spinach, can stain your teeth.


-Strawberries. Although strawberries have a rich red color, they do not stain the teeth. Instead, strawberries have malic acid, which is a natural astringent that can help with teeth discoloration.\


-Pears can combat odor while preventing bacteria from colonizing on the teeth. In addition, these fruits also stimulate saliva production.


-Baking soda. Take a toothpaste brake and try brushing with a very common ingredient. Baking soda is a base, like bleach and the “soda” which is actually a form of salt in this pantry staple is a mild abrasive that works to scrub off plaque and surface stains.


-Oranges. They have citrus, which is an acid that can make teeth whiter. However, when consumed in excess, the citrus can wear and tear at the teeth’s enamel. In order to prevent teeth decay, eat organs in moderation.


-Water. Drinking water throughout the day promotes saliva production, which in turn helps keep your pearly whites, well—white. Sipping water during and after a meal also helps rinse your mouth of any debris and loose plaque.
